LONDON—Belgium’s NHV has become the latest offshore helicopter operator to adopt Airbus’ H160 twin-engine medium rotorcraft.
Leasing the aircraft from its new parent company, GD Helicopter Finance (GDHF), NHV plans to use the aircraft to support oil and gas and offshore wind crew change operations operating initially from Den Helder, the Netherlands starting in May.
The aircraft will then be made available for operations from other NHV bases supporting customers in the North Sea and Baltic Sea regions, the operator announced on April 14.
“As we add the H160 to our medium helicopter fleet, we strengthen our operational offering and create new opportunities to support NHV’s continued growth in Europe and Africa,” NHV CEO Lars-Henrik Thorngreen said.
H160s are already being used offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and to support Brazil’s offshore industry. Bristow will also use the aircraft in West Africa.
NHV currently operates a mixed fleet of European rotorcraft including Airbus H145 and H175, and the Leonardo AW139 and AW169.
Dublin-based GDHF announced it was acquiring NHV in December 2025. NHV stated at the time that it would gain access to the new fleets of helicopters being acquired by the lessor.
The lessor is acquiring a fleet of Airbus-made rotorcraft, including H160s, H175s and H225 for leasing.
