FRIEDRICHSHAFEN, Germany—On the opening day of Aero Friedrichshafen, Elixir Aircraft launched the next generation of aircraft, the Elixir+ two-seat trainer, with several enhancements.

Greece-based flight school Global Aviation is one of the first customers for the aircraft, with an order for five, Elixir officials said.

Improvements to the upgraded version include a redesigned pump system to simplify maintenance and spare parts sourcing, an improved landing gear with better tolerance for student pilots, new winglets, vortex generators and redesigned leading edges. The wingspan has been increased from 8.48 m (27.82 ft.) to 8.94 m (29.33 ft.) for overall efficiency, the company said.

Elixir Aircraft, based in La Rochelle, France, was founded in 2015 and employs more than 200 people. The Elixir was EASA certified CS-23 in 2020 and FAA Part 23 certified since July 2025 with 55 aircraft currently in operation. Elixir has more than 300 orders for the aircraft, including firm orders, pre-orders and letters of intent.

The company is preparing to open a new facility in La Rochelle and a second in Sarasota, Florida.

“With the Elixir+, we are taking a new step forward in the development of our aircraft,” said Art Arthur Léopold-Léger, Elixir Aircraft president and co-founder. “This evolution is the result of close attention to our customers’ feedback and our constant drive for improvement. By increasing capacity while preserving the Elixir’s core qualities, we are now offering a solution even better suited to the needs of flight schools.”

For Global Aviation, the aircraft will be used for VFR training operations at the Ikaros Airport, north of Athens. Global Aviation purchased the airport in 2021.
