Hawaiian Airlines joined Oneworld, extending the reach of the global alliance in the Pacific. Hawaiian merged with Oneworld member Alaska Airlines in 2024, becoming part of the Alaska Air Group. While the carriers have a single operating certificate, they operate separate brands. Oneworld gains access to Hawaiian’s average of 140 daily inter-island flights in the Hawaii archipelago, plus new Pacific destinations previously not part of oneworld’s network, including Rarotonga, Cook Islands; Pago Pago, American Samoa; and Papeete, Tahiti. “Oneworld customers [will] enjoy seamless connections throughout the archipelago to and from Europe, the Middle East, Australia, Asia and North America via [Hawaiian’s] hubs in Honolulu, O‘ahu and Maui,” Oneworld said.
Saudia became the 24th airline to sign on to operate out of the new international terminal at New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). New Terminal One (NTO) is the $9 billion facility for international carriers set to open later this year, the most expensive component of JFK’s $19 billion overhaul. Led by global airport developer and operator Ferrovial, a private consortium is financing the cost of the facility and overseeing construction—which began in 2022—and will then manage the terminal under a long-term lease with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Saudia currently operates out of JFK’s existing Terminal 1. The airline flies from JFK to both Jeddah and Riyadh. “The relocation [of Saudia to NTO] will provide expanded capacity and a modernized environment designed to support Saudia's continued growth in the North American market,” NTO said. “With prime arrival and departure slots at JFK, Saudia will introduce new flight timings and increased frequencies on the Jeddah-New York route, strengthening connectivity and expanding access to 12 U.S. destinations through its codeshare partnership with Delta Air Lines.”
Horizon Air launched service between California airports Santa Barbara (SBA) and San Diego International (SAN). Horizon previously flew the SBA-SAN route from June 2021 to September 2022. Southwest Airlines will also start flying between SBA and SAN in August. SAN becomes the 13th destination connected to SBA, including Horizon Air service to Portland, Oregon and Seattle. Horizon will boost frequencies on the SBA-Portland route from daily to 2X-daily in May.

KLM said its flights from Amsterdam to Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia will remain cancelled through June 14. “Despite recent reporting about the situation in the Middle East, the current circumstances in the region still bring uncertainties,” KLM said. “To provide clarity and certainty to travelers scheduled to fly to Riyadh and Dammam in the coming weeks, the cancellations have been extended.” The carrier said its Dubai service also will remain suspended through June 14.

Volotea will launch service between Vitoria Airport (VIT) in Spain and Menorca, a Spanish island in the Mediterranean Sea. The route will kick off on June 1 and be flown 2X-weekly. The Spanish airline noted Menorca will be the third destination it serves from VIT, from which it also operates from to Barcelona and Madrid.

Vietnam Airlines will increase frequencies on its Hanoi-Moscow route from July 1, as demand between Vietnam and Russia continues to recover. The service to Moscow Sheremetyevo International Airport will rise from 3X to 4X-weekly, with an additional Sunday flight complementing existing departures on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Flights will be operated using Boeing 787 aircraft. The airline says the move follows strong growth in passenger traffic, with nearly 690,000 Russian arrivals to Vietnam in 2025 and continued increases in early 2026. Vietnam Airlines adds that it will continue adjusting capacity in line with demand while expanding its European network, including the planned launch of Hanoi-Amsterdam service from June 16.
Air Serbia plans to resume flights between Belgrade and Munich on May 22, restoring the route after an 18-year hiatus. The service will operate daily, with morning and evening departures from Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and return flights from Munich Airport. The airline says the route strengthens its presence in Germany, where it now serves 10 destinations, and enhances connectivity via Belgrade to a wide network across Europe, the Mediterranean, North America and Asia. “By introducing direct flights between Belgrade and Munich, we open the doors to the heart of Bavaria—one of the most dynamic regions in Europe,” Air Serbia CEO Jiri Marek adds.
Air France will add a series of extra flights from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to key long-haul destinations in Asia and Africa. Additional services include Bangkok (six extra flights), Tokyo Haneda (five), New Delhi (four), Mumbai (two), Bengaluru (two), Singapore (10) and Nairobi (one), scheduled on selected dates through mid-May. The airline says the capacity boost is aimed at meeting seasonal demand on high-traffic intercontinental routes. Meanwhile, KLM will add three extra weekly flights between Amsterdam and Bangkok from May 12 to June 15.
ITA Airways will increase frequencies to India and Thailand during the peak summer period, citing strong demand for direct connections to Asia. In August, flights between Rome Fiumicino Airport and Bangkok will rise from 3X-weekly to 5X-weekly, while services to New Delhi will increase to daily (7X-weekly). CEO Joerg Eberhart says the expansion reflects the importance of “direct and reliable connections” to Asia amid geopolitical uncertainty.

Flights to St. Louis operate 4X-weekly during the summer season, marking the airline’s 27th U.S. destination and making it the only UK carrier offering direct service on the route. The service is operated by Boeing 787 aircraft with three cabin classes. The airline has also introduced a daily, year-round service between Heathrow and Guernsey.
Solomon Airlines will temporarily reduce flight frequencies across parts of its domestic and international network from until June as it responds to sharply rising fuel costs. The airline says jet fuel prices on domestic operations have increased by more than 70%, putting significant pressure on operating costs. To maintain essential connectivity, selected routes will see reduced frequencies, while capacity is adjusted to current market conditions. A temporary domestic fuel levy of AU$10 per sector will also be introduced to help offset costs.
