XI’AN, China—Hunnu Air is planning to introduce Airbus narrowbody and widebody aircraft as part of a push into the European market.

Turbold Tserenkhuu, director of the carrier's commercial division, told Routes at Routes Asia 2026 that the airline intends to lease two A321LRs and two A330-200s, with deliveries targeted from late 2027.

The new aircraft are expected to enable services to Berlin and Budapest. However, Turbold said potential delivery delays could push their arrival from the fourth quarter of 2027 to the first quarter of 2028. The A330-200s are also slated to enter service in the first quarter of 2028.

The carrier is also considering adding an A330-200 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft around 2028.

Hunnu Air currently operates a fleet of two Embraer 195-E2s, which will be deployed on a new 2X-weekly service to New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) starting in July 2026.

While the airline has recorded around 40% growth over the past four to five years, Turbold noted the limitations of the Mongolian market, which is characterized by a short peak travel season from June to September.

To improve utilization during off-peak periods, the airline plans to pursue ACMI opportunities to wet-lease its aircraft and is working toward IATA Operational Safety Audit certification.
