The new Delta lounge at Denver International Airport.
The latest news on airports globally, with updates on financing, infrastructure expansion and sustainability initiatives.
Delta Air Lines opened a new 13,000-ft.2 lounge at its Denver International Airport hub. The lounge on Concourse A will have seating for 230 passengers. The lounge will include “a premium bar … and a cozy media room with large flatscreen televisions and low-set banquettes,” Delta said. “The space is equipped with two double-sided food buffets and an expansive beverage station for coffee, tea and soft drinks.” While the club has been opened, Delta plans to add another 6,000 ft.2 by the end of 2026, bringing capacity to 400 seats. “The final expansion will bring in an additional beverage station and a dedicated business lounge equipped with printers and five soundproof phone booths for focused work,” the airline said.
Noida International Airport (DXN), set to become New Delhi’s second airport, received an aerodrome license from the Indian government. Zurich Airport Ltd. will be the airport’s operator. “This marks an important step towards the start of operations,” Zurich Airport said. DXN is expected to open for commercial flights soon. “In due course, airlines will be able to begin operational planning and ticket sales,” Zurich Airport said. “Initial operations are expected to start with domestic passenger and cargo flights. At the same time, discussions with the Indian government are ongoing to schedule an official inauguration ceremony, which will be held at short notice.”
Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS) will conduct maintenance on taxiways A and B in two phases over the next several months. “This maintenance is part of the large-scale replacement of outdated infrastructure,” AMS said. “It is necessary to keep the taxiways in good condition so that aircraft can continue to taxi safely and reliably in the future.” AMS said the impact on passengers will be “kept to a minimum.” Work on taxiway B will be done from March 9 through April 12, while work on taxiway A will be conducted from May 4 through June 26. “Due to wear on the asphalt, lighting, cables and drainage, renewal is necessary,” AMS said. The work “may affect runway use at peak time,” the airport said. Shifting flight routes to allow the work to be done “may be noticeable to people living near Schiphol,” AMS added.
Osaka's Kansai International Airport said Terminal 2 will reopen on April 1 after being renovated. The terminal, which first opened in 2012, is used by Peach Aviation for domestic services. Construction started in August 2025.
Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) will begin a 90-day resurfacing and lighting upgrade on Runway 9/27. “One of the longest and most heavily used runways at IAH will soon undergo a carefully planned upgrade designed to strengthen safety and extend the life of critical airport infrastructure,” the airport said. The runway is 10,000 ft. long and made up of 1.5 million ft.2 of concrete. “Rather than repaving the runway, crews will grind approximately 0.5 in. off the existing concrete surface, re-texture it and then re-groove the runway,” IAH said. “The process restores friction and drainage performance, helping aircraft maintain better traction during landings and takeoffs, particularly in wet conditions.” IAH said it will continue operating four active runways while Runway 9/27 is temporarily closed. The project is funded by FAA grant money.
Dublin Airport (DUB) said it will perform an “urgent repair” of the main taxiway serving Runway 10R/28L. The runway will close at 9 a.m. on March 9 and reopen at 9 a.m. on March 12. The taxiway was damaged by “exceptionally high rainfall,” DUB said. Under European Aviation Safety Agency regulations, DUB “must maintain runway and taxiway surfaces to prevent irregularities and avoid foreign object debris that could pose a safety risk to aircraft and passengers,” the airport said. DUB added: “The successful delivery of these works is subject to weather conditions. If conditions are unsuitable, the works will be rescheduled at the earliest possible opportunity.”
