French Polynesian carrier Air Tahiti plans to equip one of its previously ordered ATR 72-600s with an all-business cabin, to maintain service standards on its domestic network.
Speaking at the Paris Air Show on Wednesday, Air Tahiti CEO Edouard Wong Fat said there was “something missing” in the airline’s product offering. He noted that passengers could fly business class to French Polynesia and stay in luxury hotels, whereas Air Tahiti’s domestic flights were “very traditional.”
Air Tahiti recently introduced premium economy, but it has now selected the ATR HighLine all-business class cabin on one of its four incoming ATR 72-600s. This VIP service, which will also include access to a new business lounge, will launch in the second half of 2025.
“Within the coming months, our wish is to introduce all-business class on our domestic routes,” Wong Fat told a media gathering. “We will start with Bora Bora. We think this is going to fill an important gap.”
Air Tahiti connects 48 islands spread across five Polynesian archipelagos, as well as Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.
Malaysian carrier Berjaya Air has also previously selected the ATR HighLine all-business class interior, which is on display at the air show. The Highline range includes dual-class cabins and other premium layouts.
