ITP Aero has made no secret of its plans to grow in the commercial aftermarket space and took a big step forward with its strategy at Paris where it was confirmed as part of Pratt & Whitney’s Geared Turbofan (GTF) aftermarket network. The Bilbao-headquartered company announced it will start servicing Pratt & Whitney-manufactured PW1500G engines for Airbus A220-family aircraft and the PW1900G for Embraer E-Jets E2-family aircraft with MRO services and test capability from its shop in Madrid from early 2027. ITP will undertake full overhauls on the engines as well as back shop repairs on the engine’s components and plans to use existing capacity as well as building a designated shop for the GTF. The company plans to focus on heavier workscopes to start with to better understand the engine. By 2033, it will ramp up output by 120+ engines.

Cebu Pacific agreed terms with Pratt & Whitney for the OEM to provide aftermarket coverage for its future fleet of PW1000 GTF engines powering its Airbus A320neo-family aircraft. The agreement runs for 12 years, and the U.S. engine OEM said it will align Cebu Pacific’s maintenance costs to the utilization of its engines. Under the terms of the contract, Pratt’s MRO network will oversee maintenance for the large engine order the Philippines-based LCC placed for GTF engines in 2024. The airline will gain access to technical expertise, fleet data and business intelligence, which Pratt said will help it gain more transparency and predictability in maintenance planning. Included in the maintenance coverage is a large-scale order for more GTF engines. Last year at the Farnborough Air Show, the carrier announced commitments for Pratt & Whitney engines for up to 152 A321neo variants. At the time, it signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus to order 102 aircraft with purchase rights for an additional 50 more.

The announcement at Paris brings brings the airline's order total to 453 aircraft powered by GTF engines. As part of the deal, Pratt & Whitney will provide Wizz Air with engine maintenance through a long-term EngineWise aftermarket services agreement.
