Air France will begin nonstop service between Paris Charles de Gaulle and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic on Jan. 13, 2026. The seasonal route will operate three times a week—Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays—through March 28 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Punta Cana becomes Air France’s sixth Caribbean destination, joining Cayenne, Pointe-à-Pitre, Fort-de-France, Saint Martin and Havana.
Indian LCC IndiGo has announced plans to launch operations from Hindon Airport in Uttar Pradesh on July 20, marking it as the airline’s 93rd domestic and 136th overall destination. Eight new routes will connect Hindon with Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna and Varanasi. “Our expansion into Hindon is a strategic move offering an additional gateway for millions in the wider catchment area,” says Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s head of global sales. The carrier plans to operate more than 70 weekly departures from the airport.
Swiss leisure carrier Edelweiss will offer a nonstop weekly service between Zurich and Luleå in northern Sweden from Dec. 19. Flights will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft. “Holidays in northern Europe have become increasingly popular among Swiss travelers in recent years,” Edelweiss CCO Patrick Heymann says. “We are delighted to be able to offer our guests a direct connection to Swedish Lapland for the first time with Luleå.”
LATAM Airlines Group will launch flights between Bogotá and Aruba beginning Dec. 1, operating three times per week with Airbus A320 aircraft. The route will initially run for two months and could become permanent based on performance. Ronella Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority, says the new route aligns with Aruba’s strategy to enhance connectivity with South America and attract high-value visitors.
Frontier Airlines has commenced a new nonstop service between San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and Gregorio Luperón International Airport in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The route will be offered 2X-weekly and becomes the carrier’s 24th nonstop destination from Puerto Rico.
Air Austral and Madagascar Airlines have signed a commercial partnership effective June 27, 2025, covering codeshare and special prorate agreements. The deal enhances connectivity between Réunion and Madagascar and expands fare and travel options. Air Austral will codeshare on Madagascar Airlines’ domestic routes, while Madagascar Airlines will extend Air Austral’s Réunion–Toamasina service to Sainte Marie. The agreement also enables connections from Madagascar via Réunion to long-haul destinations such as Bangkok and Johannesburg.
AirBaltic has inaugurated service between Tallinn and Reykjavik, marking its second route to Iceland alongside flights from its home base in Riga. The new seasonal route will operate twice a week through late August using Airbus A220-300 aircraft. “This new service will support both leisure and business travel, while also contributing to inbound tourism,” says Mantas Vrubliauskas, airBaltic vice president of network management.

China Eastern Airlines launched service between Shanghai Pudong Airport (PVG) and Geneva Airport (GVA). Flights are being operated 4X-weekly with an Airbus A350-900 aircraft configured to carry 288 passengers, including four in first class and 36 in business class. “The arrival of this new player enhances Geneva Airport’s long-haul offerings, improving intercontinental connectivity, a priority for the airport hub,” GVA said. “This new route also opens up new possibilities for connections via the Chinese economic metropolis to other destinations in Asia and Oceania.”
U.S. carrier Avelo Airlines commenced two new routes from Lakeland International Airport (LAL) in Florida: Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Islip, New York. Both routes will be operated 2X-weekly with a Boeing 737NG. The airline now serves seven destinations from LAL. In addition to the new routes, Avelo operates from LAL to Nashville, Tennessee; New Haven, Connecticut; Rochester, New York; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Wilmington, Delaware.
Cathay Pacific will increase service between Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) and Perth Airport (PER) in Western Australia to 2X-daily flights, up from 11X-weekly frequencies currently. The rise to 2X-daily service will occur in October. HKG is “a popular transit hub ... and the additional Cathay Pacific flights will provide more one-stop connections for several of [the state of Western Australia’s] key visitor markets, including the UK, the U.S. and Japan,” PER said.
AirAsia Malaysia opened service from Kuala Lumpur to two destinations in Indonesia: Palembang and Semarang. Both routes are being flown daily. The airline noted it now operates 188 weekly flights between Malaysia and Indonesia. The two new destinations bring to 15 the number of Indonesian airports served by AirAsia Malaysia.

United Airlines commenced summer seasonal service between Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and Nuuk Airport (GOH) in Greenland. The route becomes the only nonstop connection between the U.S. and Greenland and marks the first scheduled flights between the two countries since 2008. The EWR-GOH route is being flown 2X-weekly with a Boeing 737-8.
ULCC Wizz Air will open service between Naples Airport (NAP) and Timisoara, Romania, from Oct. 14. The route will be flown 3X-weekly. “This new connection is part of the airline’s broader expansion plan at Naples Airport, one of Wizz Air’s five Italian bases, which is being strengthened with the second Airbus A321neo” to be based at NAP, the airline said. Four previously announced routes will commence from the Italian city from late September, when the new NAP-based A321neo will go into operation. These services from NAP include flights to: Brasov, Romania; Chisinaum, Moldova; Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt; and Yerevan, Armenia. Additionally, Wizz Air will open service between NAP and Tel Aviv from Oct. 30.
Azerbaijan Airlines and Uzbekistan Airways signed a codeshare agreement, which the carriers said in a statement opens “new travel opportunities between the two countries.” Both carriers will add their codes to flights being operated by the other airline between Baku and Tashkent, the respective capitals of the two countries. “With up to nine flights per week operated by both carriers [on the route], passengers can choose the schedule that suits them best,” the airlines stated. “The agreement also significantly enhances transit connectivity, offering more seamless international travel options through the hub airports in Tashkent and Baku.” Uzbekistan Airways will also place its code on flights operated by Azerbaijan Airlines between Baku and Samarkand, Uzbekistan. “The partnership with Uzbekistan Airways reflects the commitment of both airlines not only to expanding their route networks, but also to strengthening the ties between the peoples of our countries,” said Azerbaijan Airlines CCO Jamil Manizade.
Russia’s IrAero Airlines plans to launch service between Moscow Domodedovo Airport and Gabala International Airport (GBB) in Azerbaijan from July 1. The route is set to be operated 2X-weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays. GBB will also see Wizz Air Abu Dhabi kick off 3X-weekly flights to Abu Dhabi from June 19. “The opening of these routes is the result of coordinated cooperation between the airport and partner airlines,” GBB said. “This development reflects the consistent implementation of a strategic course aimed at enhancing air connectivity, increasing international accessibility and supporting the growth of the region’s tourism potential.”

Turkish Airlines has increased the number of weekly flights it is operating between Istanbul Airport (IST) and a number of UK airports. The carrier added two weekly flights between IST and London Heathrow Airport, now flying the route 47X-weekly. It added two weekly flights between IST and London Gatwick Airport, now flying the route 28X-weekly. The airline added three weekly flights between IST and Manchester Airport, now operating the route 28X-weekly. Turkish added four weekly flights between IST and Birmingham Airport, now operating the route 18X-weekly. For summer seasonal service, the airline added four weekly flights between IST and Edinburgh Airport, now flying the route 14X-weekly. In addition to the increased frequencies to UK airports, Turkish is also upping weekly flights between IST and Dublin Airport from 18 to 21.
Spirit Airlines entered two new markets with the launch of flights from Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport (CHA), Tennessee, and Columbia Metropolitan Airport (CAE), South Carolina. The airline opened three routes from each airport to the same three cities. From CHA, the carrier is operating 3X-weekly to its Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Florida base. Spirit is additionally flying 4X-weekly from CHA to both Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). From CAE, the airline is operating 3X-weekly to both FLL and MCO. It is also flying 4X-weekly between CAE and EWR.
Latvia’s airBaltic increased passenger numbers year-over-year for the month of May despite operating fewer flights compared to the previous year, citing “network optimization.” The airline reported it carried 458,900 passengers in May, up 6% over May 2024, even as the number of flights operated for the month dipped slightly year-over-year from 4,320 to 4,300. Passenger numbers rose because the airline’s average load factor increased 3.4 percentage points over May 2024 to 78.6%. The airline noted it will be adding three new destinations for the upcoming winter season from October to late March 2026, including Riga, Latvia–Faro, Portugal; Tallinn, Estonia–Madeira, Portugal; and Gran Canaria, Spain–Ljubljana, Slovenia.
LCC Jazeera Airways opened service between its Kuwait International Airport (KWI) base and Budapest Airport (BUD). The route will be flown 2X-weekly through mid-September. The service marks Jazeera’s entrance into the Hungarian market and the first ever nonstop connection between KWI and BUD.
