SkyWest Orders 60 Embraer 175s, Adds Purchase Rights For 50 More

LE BOURGET—U.S. regional operator SkyWest has ordered 60 Embraer E175s to top up its fleet and secured purchase rights for 50 more with deliveries set to begin in 2027, the companies said June 18 at the Paris Air Show.
Embraer said the $3.6 billion list price value of the firm order for 60 aircraft will be included in the company’s second-quarter backlog. SkyWest is already the world’s largest Embraer E-Jet operator. The regional airline has 263 Embraer aircraft in its fleet and already had 16 on its existing backlog.
“As the largest E175 owner and operator worldwide, we’re pleased to continue growing our E175 fleet and enhance our dual-class footprint,” SkyWest CEO Chip Childs said. “This order enables us to advance our long-term fleet strategy and to continue to deliver the premier regional product in the industry.”
Embraer Commercial Aviation CEO Arjan Meijer said: “We are thrilled to continue our long-standing partnership with SkyWest Airlines with this mega order. The E175 is the cornerstone of regional aviation in North America.”
SkyWest said in an earnings update in April that it was expecting the majority of the eight E175s it was due to receive this year to come in the second half because of delivery delays. The final eight of that backlog are due to arrive in 2026.
The Brazilian aircraft manufacturer said in February that it expected to deliver 77-85 commercial jets in 2025, compared to 73 in 2024.
St. George, Utah-headquartered SkyWest is a regional carrier for airlines including Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. Its overall fleet also includes CRJ200s, CRJ700/CRJ550s and CRJ900s.
Embraer said it had been working with SkyWest for nearly 40 years, since the airline acquired five EMB-120 Brasilia aircraft in 1986.
