Lucas Fairchild from Rodwell

Lucas Aerospace was selected by Fairchild to develop and supply the fly-by-wire flight control system on the Fairchild 728JET airliner. It will be the first fly-by-wire flight control system with no mechanical reversion to be applied to any commercial aircraft, Lucas says. It is backed by more than 100 million flying hours logged by safety-critical software on engine controls. Value of the contract to Lucas over the predicted life of Fairchild 728JET program could be £600 million ($900 million), says the UK firm.
