CAMP Celebrating 30 Years, Launches EN

CAMP Systems International (Booth 8100) will celebrate its 30th anniversary as a business aviation information provider on November 18, 1998. CAMP was founded by Daniel J. Ryan and three others from Grumman's Bethpage, NY, facility: Wayne Hoppner, Tony Costa and Bill Slavik. The original company was established in the Islip Long Island airport (KISP) terminal building with no customers and a cardboard box for a filing system. The company's first product was a Gulfstream I program, which still exists.

Today, CAMP boasts over 3,000 aircraft subscribing to its maintenance services alone. With over 100 employees at its Ronkonkoma, NY, headquarters, CAMP provides its services to some 850 flight departments around the world. The company's primary offerings include aircraft maintenance data control and regulatory compliance services, and flight scheduling/dispatching, inventory control, commercial travel interface and financial management software.

The company's newest product, dubbed CAMP EN, is designed to provide qualified customers with automatic e-mail notifications of actual aircraft activity. CAMP EN will display actual aircraft departure time, departure location, destination airport and ETA for any aircraft that has filed an IFR flight plan going to or from any airport in the U.S. or Canada. The notification automatically arrives at the subscriber's desktop via e-mail on a per-leg basis or as a daily summary. No other software is required and the service is provided on a subscription and per-message charge basis.

The information for EN is extracted from FAA Aircraft Situation Display Information provided by satellite feed from RLM Software, one of the original developers of public ASDI systems. CAMP software specialists dither the information into e-mail compatible formats.
