328JET Makes First Transatlantic Crossing for Tests, NBAA Show

Fairchild Dornier's number three 328JET is on the static display, having put its avionics flight-test program in abeyance at Honeywell's Phoenix facility. The aircraft is chock-full of flight-test equipment and will not be open to the public. It has already completed avionics development trials and is engaged now in certification testing of the Honeywell aviation system, specifically the autopilot.

In addition to normal functions, the autopilot system's response to the introduction of partial failure modes is being checked. The aircraft is slated to fly from Phoenix to Oberpfaffenhofen, Germany on November 9.
