Hudson General Completes SLC FBO Expansion Hudson General has completed $1.5 million in capital expenditures at its Salt Lake City FBO. The outlays covered remodeling and expanding facilities. "A few years ago, we bought out one of four FBOs on the field to gain one additional 36,000-square-foot hanger and another 6,000 square feet of office space," said GM Matt Ellingson. "We totally renovated the flight lounge and hangar with a $350,000 gutting and rebuilding program. We also added a dedicated pilot's lounge and snooze rooms," he said. Ellingson said there are no immediate plans for further expansion, but that things could change quickly. "The airport is undergoing dramatic airline-passenger growth. With the 2002 Winter Olympics set for here, we will have a short-term need for added ramp space and other facilities," he said of the Salt Lake location. "We already are at 90% capacity now. Most hangar space is spoken for, although we have held some for winter transient traffic demand," Ellingson said. The company has some 85,000 square feet of heated hangar space and 16,000 square feet of office space serving a 560,000-square-foot ramp. The FBO, which is a Phillips 66 Aviation Performance Center, annually pumps some 38.5 million gallons of Jet A to airlines. It sells 1.5 million gallons of pre-blended Jet A and about 400,000 of avgas. | ||||||
