Pratt & Whitney PT6A-42A Turboprop is Canada-Certificated

Pratt & Whitney Canada's PT6A-42A turboprop received Transport Canada certification on September 30. The engine, which is rated at 1,029 thermodynamic shp, was successfully flown on August 21 during the maiden flight of the Piper Meridian. The PT6A-42A features a fuel control with a manual override, an oil level sight glass, and other improvements. Engine deliveries are to begin in early 2000. P&WC is at Booth 8354 here.
