Canadian Marconi Beefs Up Helicopter Market Presence Canadian Marconi has boosted its presence in helicopters behind the sale
of its CMA-2012 Doppler Navigation Sensor to Heli-Dyne Systems and Agusta.
The system is derived from a standard military navigation sensor, and provides
the same basic Doppler navigation sensor functionality, but interfaces with
the commercial type navigation and autopilot equipment found on modern SAR
aircraft. One such craft is the Bell 412, the platform being used by Heli-Dyne
for flight tests of the Canadian Marconi Doppler. A TSO is expected shortly,
and is expected to facilitate systems sales for commercial and para-military
helicopter types. It is currently in service on over 170 military aircraft.
A Doppler navigation sensor uses radar beams directed at the ground to derive
the velocity components of the aircraft. | ||||||
