Primus Epic CDS Makes NBAA Debut Can't afford a glareshield-to-console, integrated avionics retrofit with flat-panel displays? Honeywell has a solution. The firm's Primus Epic avionics now are available as a stand-alone control display system that can be retrofitted to aircraft equipped with current generation Primus 1000 or 2000 digital avionics. Similar to other next-generation, large-format LCD avionics systems, the Primus Epic CDS features eight-by-10-inch full-color liquid crystal displays that make possible high-resolution graphics not available on CRT screens. In addition, LCDs have a better contrast ratio in bright light, longer service lives, and weigh less. For retrofit, the Primus 1000's IC-600 or Primus 2000's IC-800 integrated avionics computer is replaced with a new IC-1080 that is the hub of the system's hub-and-spoke architecture. The IC-1080, in contrast to the IC-600 on which it's based, has provisions for an optional FMS card, thereby eliminating the need for a standalone FMS remote box. The Primus Epic CDS has been selected for installation on the Sino Swearingen SJ30-2 and Cessna CE-680 Sovereign. Look for other applications to be announced in the near future.
