Add-On Electronic Cockpit Display System Wins FAA Certification

A cockpit display system offering Stormscope lightning data overlaid on a GPS-driven moving map, flight planning and flight information display has received FAA TSO certification.

Archangel Avionics of Auburn, Alabama, plans future software upgrades that will include realtime NEXRAD weather, approach procedures, and terrain and traffic avoidance.

The display includes a sunlight-readable 10.4 inch liquid crystal screen, with touchscreen user interface.

Other notable features include one-finger operation, easy zooming and centering of the plane on the map.

The Archangel cockpit display system will interface to most panel-mounted GPS receivers.

STC kits, which include a prestamped panel, are available for many Piper and Bonanza airframes.
