Pugsley to Receive NBAA's Doswell Award Milton H. "Milt" Pugsley, retired president of Chrysler Pentastar Aviation, will receive the 1998 John P. "Jack" Doswell Award from NBAA during the association's annual awards banquet on Wednesday night. The dinner will be held in the Las Vegas Hilton's Pavilion beginning at 6:30 p.m. Pugsley, a Michigan State graduate, was selected for his lifelong individual achievement on behalf of business aviation. He began his flying career with the U.S. Navy in 1943, leaving active duty in 1955 after achieving the rank of commander. He later joined the Continental Oil flight department as a copilot. In 1964, he moved to Chrysler's flight department. In 1979, he formed Chrysler's aviation subsidiary, Pentastar Aviation, which was incorporated in 1980. Pugsley served as president of the organization until his retirement in 1991. Throughout his career, Pugsley exhibited a strong commitment to aviation safety. He was associated with one of the first cockpit and cabin crew training programs in the business aviation industry, which included training on survival techniques and terrorism avoidance. Pugsley was a member of the NBAA board of directors from 1972 to 1977
and served on several of the association's standing committees. | ||||||
