New Cessna Jets to Feature Collins' Pro Line 21 Avionics

Collins' Pro Line 21 avionics will be standard equipment on Cessna's new CJ1 and CJ2 business jets. The Pro Line 21 system, launched at the 1995 NBAA convention, brings several new technologies to Cessna aircraft, including large-format, 10-inch-by-8-inch LCD adaptive flight displays and Collins' new AHRS-3000 attitude heading reference system, which replaces conventional electromechanical, laser ring and fiber optics technologies with a quartz rate sensor that significantly improves reliability while reducing volume, weight, power consumption and cost of ownership.

The Pro Line 21 avionics on the two CJs also feature Collins' WXR-800 solid-state weather radar, with optional turbulence detection, and dual-channel automatic flight control systems (AFCS). Cessna Chairman Russ Meyer stated that the Pro Line 21 suite slated for the CJ2 is "well suited to a high-performance jet like the CJ2 that often will be operated by a single pilot."
