Falcon 900EX Sets Record: Brazil-NY

A new non-stop speed record between Sao Paulo and New York has been claimed by Dassault Falcon Jet with its 900EX demonstrator.

The flight, to Teterboro, New Jersey, covered an air distance of 4,574 nmi in a flight time of 11 hours and seven minutes.

The aircraft left Sao Paulo with three crew and seven passengers.

The flight was flown at altitudes from 37,000 to 47,000 feet, and fuel burn totaled only 18,900 pounds despite an early descent and lengthy low-altitude vectoring in the New York terminal area.

The Falcon 900EX is a longer-range development of the Falcon 900B, but does not replace the latter in the Falcon family line-up.

"Customers don't always need the 900EX's nonstop range of 4,500 nmi," said John Rosanvallon, President of Dassault Falcon Jet Corp.

"So the Falcon 900B, priced about $3 million below the 900EX, remains a popular choice."

The 900EX increases the B model's real-world range by more than 10% to 4,500 nm (with 8 passengers and NBAA IFR reserves).

The Falcon 900EX is powered by three AlliedSignal TFE731-60 engines.

It is fitted with large-tube Primus 2000 avionics by Honeywell. It also features a Honeywell autothrottle.
