Corporate Angel Network Has New Look

Corporate Angel Network, a volunteer not-for-profit organization, comes to the 51st NBAA convention with a new display (Booth 6528) and a new Internet website. The CAN booth centerpiece is a 10-by-10-foot photograph showing Melissa Henne returning to Richmond, VA, after treatment in Hackensack, NJ. Henne, the 10,000th cancer patient to fly with CAN, flew home onboard a Raytheon Beech King Air operated by Safe Flight Instrument. Pilots were Safe Flight CEO and CAN board member Dr. Leonard Greene and his son Randall.

Also available at the booth are brochures on how cancer patients can use CAN's service and how corporate flight departments can participate. Information can also be found on CAN's recently developed Web site at www.corpangelnetwork.org.

CAN reports here that Xerox has just completed its 1,000th flight on behalf of the organization. The record-setting flight took place on September 3, 1998 when cancer patient Karen Hayes flew aboard a Xerox corporate shuttle. Hayes has flown on more than 50 flights with Xerox, traveling from her home in Rochester, NY, to New York City.

Xerox has been flying cancer patients since 1984, and is one of the select group of companies that have completed more than 100 flights. Other companies include: AlliedSignal, AT&T, Arco of Alaska, BP Exploration, Champion International, Corning, Dow Chemical, Duke Energy, DuPont, Ford, Hewlett Packard, Mellon Bank, Philip Morris and UST. Approximately 550 companies are involved with the humanitarian airlift program.

CAN will also be holding a raffle to award some lucky person a two-year lease on a 1999 Jaguar. Flying magazine and Jaguar Cars of North America have donated the lease, and the winner can choose an XK8 or a four-door Vanden Plas sedan. The cars are on display at Flying's Booth 6321. Two XK8s also will be at the static display at McCarran Airport.

The drawing will be held on Wednesday, October 21 at 3 p.m. at Flying's booth.
