Heli-Expo Opens With a Strong Start

HAI president Roy Resavage and chairman James Cheatham opened Heli-Expo'99 yesterday. The show attracted some 10,000 attendees, down a shade from the same time last year but in line with Dallas three years ago.

"We have 3,000 members, there is a record amount of floor space, and the organization is well respected, well recognized," Resavage reported. "FAA administrator Jane Garvey, for example, took time to attend the Rotorcraft Round Table."

Asked by Show News if the shrinking number of heliports is more pressing than development of an IFR infrastructure, he acknowledged "It's very important, but they are
different issues."
