New Machida Borescopes Shed Light Down and Deep Orangeburg, NY-based Machida, Inc. (Booth 2114) is promoting a new borescope for the non-destructive testing of helicopter engines. Model FBA-4B-100 employs a 150-watt halogen lamp to shed light at the end of a 100-centimeter (about 40 inches) fiberoptic line. The battery-operated FBA-4B-100 has an outer diameter of 4 millimeters and angulation of 120 degrees, up or down. It is priced at $5,500.00. Other Machida borescopes can fit in openings as small as 2mm, and some feature "working channels" allowing small tools to be passed along the scope for such tasks as probing, scraping, grasping, brushing, suction, spraying, irrigation or foreign object removal, the company says.
