RACAL-HEIM DATAREC-D20I AIRBORNE DATA RECORDER

Racal-Heim have recently introduced the DATaRec-D20i - the first airborne data recorder to use compact Advanced Intelligent Tape cassettes as the recording medium. This modular recorder complements the DLT-based D12. The recorders can be seen on the Photo-Sonics International Ltd (PSIL) stand, E10 in Hall 1.

PSIL has been the authorised U.K. sales and support agency for ten years and has supplied to MoD, major aerospace companies, and the flight test establishments recorders for both development and in-service use.

Several orders have already been received for the D12 and D20i recorders with deliveries to DERA, GKN Westland Helicopters Ltd. and Rolls-Royce completed.

The recorders may be pre-configured, or re-configured by the customer, to include combinations of multiple data streams including MIL-STD-1553, CSDB, RSB, ARINC 429, PCM, RS422 (HDLC & SDLC), Panavia, and analogue.

These recorders continue to build on the success of the DATaRec-D4, which, despite being low-cost COTS equipment is FLIGHT-CLEARED.

The proof of the quality and performance of these recording systems can be judged from the number of different aircraft on which they are used. In the U.K. these include :- Apache, EH101, Eurofighter, Harrier, Hawk, Jaguar, Lynx, Nimrod, Sea King, and Tornado.
