Tiernay Talks Up Tubing, Extrusions Work for Airbus and Embraer

Tiernay Metals has won a $1.5-million contract from Aerospatiale to provide Airbus with aluminum alloy extrusions. A contract of similar value was awarded Tiernay by Daimler-Benz, also for aluminum alloy extrusions for Airbus. The company has also won a $5-million contract to provide aerospace tubing to Airbus, via Aerospatiale, and says it will supply all aluminum extrusions for the Embraer ERJ145, under yet another longterm deal. Tiernay managing director Brian Austin says his firm's new business, particularly at Airbus, has prompted expansion of Tiernay facilities in the UK and France.
