Ansett Inks AMOSS Deal with Honeywell as Pegasus Gallops On

Ansett Australia has signed a six-year, renewable contract with Honeywell Aviation Services for Honeywell's Airline Maintenance and Operations Support System for Ansett's entire fleet of BAe 146, Boeing 737-300, 747-300, 767-200/300ER and Airbus 320-200 jetliners. AMOSS links the aircraft's avionics and digital diagnostic boxes to the airline's maintenance computers by means of an air-to-ground datalink. Initial software deliveries are scheduled for November, with full system capability due in August 1999. Elsewhere Honeywell reports that more than 30 airlines have ordered the company's new Pegasus Flight Management Computer Systems for their jetliners. Pegasus gained FAA TSO C115b approval and aircraft type approval in March 1998 on Boeing 757, 767 and MD-90 airliners. Besides being much more powerful than previous Honeywell FMCS boxes, Pegasus gives airlines FANS capabilities they will need for the 21st century, including automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast by means of a satcom datalink.
