International Aero Engines is using Farnborough to launch an upgrade package-dubbed the Phoenix program, which will bring a 25% improvement in time on wing for the early V2500-A1 engines. IAE anticipates maintenance cost savings of $1 million per aircraft over 10 years through transplanting the latest V2500-A5 hot section technology into the earlier -A1 at overhaul time. The upgrade will be completed automatically on every engine passing through the overhaul shops.
