Rigorous Test Program Is Designed
to Polish the Diamond

ILA 2000: Certification is expected this summer of the latest sporting and touring aircraft from Diamond Industries GmbH, the four-seat DA40. This aircraft was developed following the worldwide popularity of the two-seat Diamond Katana trainer. Both aircraft are on show at ILA 2000.

The DA40 features an advanced glass and carbon fiber composite airframe that increases structural strength for the same weight as metal, and dampens sound. Major components are interchangeable for ease of repair.

Powerplant is a 180hp Lycoming IO-360-MIA with three-blade constant speed propeller. It features self-adjusting-intake cooling, and "Lasar" ignition.

Plans call for the test DA40 to log 10,000 landings and 2,000 flight hours before certification.
