Fairchild Won One Third of Market For Regional Jets

Fairchild Aerospace won one third of the world market last year for regional jets and airliners of less than 100 seats. It booked orders for 178 aircraft, comprising 78 for 328JET models, 40 orders for 428JETs and 60 orders for its new 728JETs.

The 328JET is assembled at the company's new HQ at Dornier Luftfahrt at Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich.

That is also the site of Fairchild Dornier's booming $120 million business making parts for Airbus. "We have excellent productivity, and we pass that on in price to our customer," chairman and CEO Chuck Pieper told Show News. "And as a result they give us more business."The Airbus work is also a great lab for developing techniques for the 328 and 728, he said.
