Tiger Sets Its Sights on Export Markets

ILA 1998 was the site of the signing of the initial production contract for 160 Tigers. First delivery is in 2002.
Production of the multirole Tiger attack helicopter is well under way at Eurocopter following the signing at last ILA of the initial production order for 160 aircraft.

The first production model will fly in November, and the first delivery will be to the German forces in 2002.
Plans call for the French army to be equipped with 215 Tigers, and the German army with 212. Two variants are available: the HAP combat support helicopter chosen by the French army, and the HAC and UHT anti-tank versions, the former for the French army, and the latter for Germany.

Each version has been developed based on a shared platform specially designed to integrate a wide variety of weapon systems.
Export markets are being offered the HCP multipurpose combat helicopter version in a variety of forms, based on the standard Tiger platform. The ease with which different weapons and sensors can be integrated into the helicopter allows many configurations, such as reconnaissance, anti-tank or escort support, or any combination of all three depending on a customers' requirements.
The Tiger has yet to win an export order but Eurocopter believes it is only a matter of time.
