De-Icing Expert ESW Blows Hot on ILA
For Optronics, Too

ILA 2000: Germany's leading expert in electro-optics and electrothermic de-icing systems for aircraft and helicopters is exhibiting at ILA 2000.

ESW-Extel Systems Wedel is a player on all major European programs including Tornado, Eurofighter, Tiger, NH90, EH101, the RAM missile and various tanks and howitzers. It provides stabilizers for sensors and targeting sights for tanks and helicopters, and the stabilized platform for the Osiris pole sight on the Tiger.

Its de-icing systems are used on all major helicopter programs as well as the AH-64 Apache, and it supplies the engine intake deicing control for the Tornado.

ESW is also a supplier to Airbus, providing electrothermic de-icing systems and their controls, and the cargo loading and unloading systems for the Beluga transport plane. Its optronic measurement technology is used on the Airbus final assembly line.
ESW's staff of 700 also makes radomes for Tornado and Eurofighter, and composite fairings and structural components.
