Air Group Acquires Tyler Jet
Completions
Air Group Aviation has
acquired Tyler Jet Completions, a business aircraft refurbisher
based in Tyler, Texas.
As part of the acquisition, Air Group has entered an alliance
with Tim Beverly, who founded TJC in 1995 to support Tyler Jet's
aircraft sales efforts. "I was looking for a partner that
was focused on perpetuating the robust growth of this business,"
he says.
TJC installed new interiors and performed avionics upgrades on
more than 64 aircraft last year, the majority of them Gulfstreams
and Falcons.
Air Group founders Jim Haynes and Ben Bartel say the TJC buy culminates
a three-year search for the "right platform" upon which
to build a general aviation services company -- and that other
acquisitions are planned. To support this strategy, Air Group
has gained a commitment from a private equity fund to provide
the financing for further acquisitions that fit its business model.
Haynes and Bartel say their goal is to build a company that generates
"half a billion dollars" in revenues in five years,
while retaining the management teams and identity of each acquisition.
A former Chairman of the National Air Transportation Association
and a senior executive with Butler Airport Services, Haynes has
been involved in the general aviation industry for more than 30
years. Bartel -- an Ohio native -- acquired and developed Jet
Centre in the United Kingdom after building Kabelmedia Holding,
one of Germany's largest cable television companies in the early-
to mid-1990s.
