LITEF Installs Fiber Optics Systems to Replace its Mechanical Gyros

LITEF GmbH is expanding its family of low-cost, compact systems and components based on its mAHRS (micro-Attitude and Heading Reference System) technology. The systems use fiber-optic gyros and micro-mechanical accelerometers to provide inertial reference functions. Products include the LCR-93, which LITEF is supplying to Honeywell for use in the avionics systems of the Agusta-Bell AB139, the Ayres Loadmaster and the Bombardier CL-415 water bomber. The company is also using mAHRS technology to replace mechanical gyro systems in the Learjet 31 and 35, the Dassault Falcon 20, and Gulfstream II and III. In the Learjet 35 application, the new system saves 20 pounds and offers a substantial saving in cost per flight hour.
