Avfuel Announces Winner of Third Annual AVTRIP Scholarship

Vincent E. Smith III, of Houston, TX, was awarded a $2,000 scholarship and $500 worth of U.S. Savings bonds as the winner of the third annual AVTRIP Scholarship Award given by Avfuel Corp. Smith won for a three-part essay discussing what attracted him to aviation, ways to generate increased interest in aviation, and steps aviation FBOs can take to generate increased transient traffic. Smith, currently a pilot with American General Pilot, is studying for a master's degree at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and plans to seek a management position after graduation. He can use the funds for flight training, certificate upgrade or flight education programs. In his winning essay, Smith suggested an increase in available college training courses and degrees in aviation fashioned after European and Asian trade and technical schools.
