Rockwell Collins to Supply BBJ and
Other Boeing 737 Autopilots

Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group has selected Rockwell Collins to supply a new digital flight control system with Category IIIb autoland capability for the Boeing 737 New Generation family, which includes the Boeing Business Jet. With an integrated autothrottle and new mode control panel, the new autopilot offers higher reliability and more growth capacity than the current system, and will provide landing and rollout guidance at suitably equipped airports in very poor visibility conditions. (The BBJ's standard Flight Dynamics head-up display improves its bad-weather landing performance at less well-equipped airports.) Deliveries are due to start in mid-2002, followed by certification in October and first deliveries in January.
