CAT Unveils New King Air Mods
Commuter Air Technology (CAT) will unveil several new Raytheon King Air
enhancements at the NBAA Convention.
These improvements include an all-composite cargo pod, high flotation
tires, a low-oil warning system, an exhaust gas extractor and a new, high-density
lightweight seat.
DynaComp Corp of Richmond, British Columbia, has agreed to provide CAT
with a new, all-composite cargo pod for King Airs, offering greater strength
with reduced weight and fewer parts. CAT will, however, continue to make
its U.S.-made cargo pod available to customers.
Wilderness High Flotation tires are said to provide "high flotation
gear" performance--softer landings and a smoother ride during taxi--at
a much lower cost than "high float" gear.
CAT's Low Oil Warning System will provide pilots with information that
could prevent a catastrophic engine failure, while its Exhaust Gas Extractor
-- unveiled at last year's NBAA convention in Las Vegas -- is now being
developed for King Air 90s and 100s.
The company recently completed designing a new high-density lightweight
seat, to be produced by Neill Aircraft of Long Beach, California. This
seat will also be marketed to the regional and business aircraft community,
the company says.
Reduced prices will be offered to customers who buy the new products
at the NBAA show this week.
Phoenix-based CAT has delivered more than 100 "CATPASS" King
Air modifications since 1986, and this summer established its own FAR
Part 135 operation in Show Low, AZ.
The CATPASS King Air is a modified B200 equipped with cargo pod and other
enhancements designed to maximize its efficiency in the high-cycle, short-haul
regional market.
