EADS: Everything But the Kitchen Sink

 Aerospace and defense giant EADS has a wealth of hardware, software and systems expertise on tap for this year’s show. Included in the $39 billion global aerospace and defense provider’s offerings at the EADS stand and elsewhere are:

  • A full-scale mock-up of the EuroMALE medium-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), a four-ton twin-boom aircraft capable of carrying a wide variety of sensor packages;
  • An interactive scale model of the Eurofighter, depicting the advanced technological and operational features of the multi/swing-role combat aircraft. On the flight line, Finmeccanica/Alenia and the Italian Air Force will demonstrate the Eurofighter’s aerial capabilities;
  • Daily presentations of Network Centric Operations Simulation demonstrator. Designed to develop and test new defense concepts, the simulator integrates input from various sensors -- day/night optronics, electronic support measures and radar -- in a virtual environment in order to create a precise and reliable picture of the tactical or strategic situation;
  • A 538-sq-ft simulation and training area featuring state-of-the-art aircrew training for military jet pilots, technical training for ground crews, training products, computer-based training devices and virtual maintenance trainers for fixed and rotary-wing air vehicles;
  • The EuroHawk, a derivate of the U.S. Air Force Global Hawk UAV, equipped with a new signal intelligence missions system developed by EADS for the German Air Force;
  • A wide range of tactical UAVs for network-centric missions, such as the Tracker and  Surveyor-600 as well as Orka and Scorpio helicopter UAVs;
  • A Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS) launcher and scenario along with a PAC-3 missile; a Storm Shadow conventionally armed standoff air-to-ground long-range missile; a Meteor next-generation beyond-visual range air-to-air guided missile, displayed with the full-scale Eurofighter mock-up; and the Taurus KEPD 350 air-to-ground guided missile system.
