E-Jet Commonality

As Embraer test pilots jump from one E-Jet airliner type to another during an unprecedented peak in test activity, “they use stickers on the cockpit windows to remind them which aircraft type they are flying,” says Luis Carlos Affonso. “The aircraft have 100% flight deck commonality, and because of their FBW system the flying qualities are the same from the 70-seater to the 115-seater,” he explains. —Mike Vines
