Crane to Supply Braking Control for A400M

Crane Aerospace & Electronics has been selected by EADS CASA in Madrid to develop the braking and anti-skid control system for the Airbus 400M military transport aircraft. The A400M equipment will be an advanced brake-by-wire system linked to the integrated modular avionics on the aircraft. This is the first application of Crane brake control technology on an Airbus aircraft, says Ray Boushie, president and CEO of Crane Aerospace & Electronics. The A400M must stop in 550 meters with deceleration forces of 0.50 g’s, compared with an average of 0.30 g’s for commercial jets.
