Hamilton Sundstrand Breaks Ground for New Plant

A new Airplane Power System Integration Facility — or APSIF — is taking shape at Rockford, Illinois, and is destined to play a key role in developing and testing multiple systems for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. High-speed data links with Boeing and other Hamilton Sundstrand facilities in Connecticut and California will enable the factory to operate as a virtual workspace, with engineers thousands of miles apart testing and verifying systems in a real-time, collaborative environment, simplifying the aircraft development process.
