Elbit to Debut Vision-Based Cockpit

Elbit Systems is developing a new Vision Based Cockpit suite to be optimized for business aviation. Leading the effort will be Elbit’s Kollsman Inc. subsidiary, which already markets Enhanced Vision Systems for business jets. According to Randy A. Moore, executive vp and general manager of Kollsman, the Vision Based Cockpit will fuse images from a collection of vision systems, including EVS, HUDs and synthetic vision systems. Combining signals from such systems will provide pilots with more a intuitive experience and better situational awareness, says the company. According to Moore, such systems will soon be integrated for testing in business aircraft and should be ready in time for the NBAA convention this autumn in New Orleans.
