Shenzhen Takes Delivery of its First 737-900

Shenzhen Airlines, the inaugural Chinese carrier to order the Boeing 737-900, took delivery of the first of five aircraft on June 10. Shenzhen has the aircraft configured to carry 189 passengers up to 2,745 nmi; it is capable of flying from Shenzhen to Beijing and between Urumqi, in Western China, and Shenzhen. Boeing has sold a total of 4,500 aircraft of all models of 737s in service. Alaska Airlines took delivery of the first of model 737-900 in 2001, and Boeing has since received orders for a total of 55 737-900s from six customers.
