Airbus has chosen Rockwell Collins as a key supplier of the A380’s avionics network with the AFDX switch, a module in the aircraft’s ethernet network that provides communications infrastructure connecting displays, radios and navigation sensors. The high-bandwidth switch supports advanced data capability and provides room for future growth. In addition, Rockwell Collins is developing the airline operational communications (AOC) applications for integration on the A380. Airlines will be able to use tools developed by Rockwell Collins to customize the AOC interface to meet their needs.
