GECAS Builds More Freighters for EVA Airways

GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) has hired Israeli Aircraft Industries (IAI) to convert four Boeing 747-400s from passenger to freighter configuration. EVA Airways will lease the first three aircraft from GECAS in Singapore following a purchase and leaseback transaction with GECAS and conversion by IAI. EVA will have the option to convert the fourth aircraft. Delivery of the first converted aircraft is scheduled for spring 2007. EVA currently leases a converted MD-11 freighter from GECAS and eight A330-200 passenger aircraft.
