TopiVision Shows New Mini UAV
TopiVision is showing the Casper 250 the newest version of the Casper 200 mini UAV first shown in 2004. TopiVision delivered the Casper to a number of international clients, primarily for law enforcement and security applications. The new version uses a modified, three-axis stabilized nose-mounted daylight and low-light level night payload that weighs only 500 grams, has 25x optical zoom and a performance equivalent to payloads used by much larger UAVs. The company is working on a similar night payload to be equipped with thermal imager. The Casper demonstrated excellent handling and mission performance, particularly in urban operations, where it can utilize its unique obstacle avoidance capability. The air vehicle employs an innovative landing mechanism by deploying a wing flap that decelerates and descends the aircraft to a soft landing over any type of terrain. In fact, one Casper is still flying after accumulating over 120 landings.
