ELISRA Integrated Helicopter DAS/ESM Yield Weight, Cost Savings

Defensive Aids Systems (DAS) based on an Elisra’s new "all in one" approach combine self-protection sensors and Electronic Support Measures (ESM) offering weight, volume savings and logistical benefits. Designated SPS-65 V3.1/V5 the system, offered for new or upgraded helicopters, is currently competing in several NATO DAS/ESM upgrading programs. Nati Catran, deputy vp marketing & sales at Elisra, tells Show News, "Without compromising performance, our 16-pound integrated system replaces several units weighing a total of 44 pounds." It has other benefits as well. Integrating signal processing of RWR, IR, laser warning sensors, and ESM, it provides an integrated threat picture to trigger the most suitable countermeasures. “Since threat profiles and countermeasure techniques are generated by a generic signal generator, individual systems can be maintained on an aircraft-specific configuration, updated with fresh libraries just prior to each mission.”
