Smiths Aerospace Opens Test Facility

 Smiths Aerospace opened a fully automated refueling test facility at its Corona, California location. The test facility is capable of simultaneously testing the Wing Aerial Refueling Pod and centerline Hose and Drum Unit.

The facility is currently being used to test refueling equipment for the Boeing KC-767 Tanker Transport program for the Italian Air Force. The KC-767A will provide three-point hose-and-drogue refueling capability.

Smiths is also providing aerial refueling control computers, boom actuation control systems, electronic elevator feel computers, high-lift actuation, power distribution, mission control system, and the standby instrumentation system for the KC-767 program.
