Alitalia Spin-Off Formed to Curb Debt
A spin-off of Alitalia, Alitalia Servizi SpA, has begun operating as its own company, but is still under the control of the parent company. Alitalia Servizi is responsible for Alitalia Airport, Atitech, the majority of Alitalia Maintenance Systems and nearly half of Ales. According to the company the spin-off is part Alitalia’s current business plan, which aims to “bring the group back to profitability. This is to recoup the group’s net debt of $2.24 billion.”
