Transport Canada Completes Flight Testing of Bombardier EVS

Bombardier’s Enhanced Vision System completed flight testing certification with Transport Canada and the FAA and received Transport Canada’s provisional approval on March 31. This approval is felt by Bombardier to “pave the way for certifications by the FAA and the EASA. Full certification of the BEVS is expected by July following a series of electromagnetic inference tests. The BEVS, developed jointly with Thales, allows aircraft to fly straight-in approaches down to decision altitude of 100 feet height above threshold. EASA’s approval is anticipated by third quarter 2005.
