Goodrich Actuators for the M51 Program

Goodrich is to become the sole supplier of actuators for the four-stage thrust vector control system on the M51 missile program. The M51, a French submarine-launched ballistic missile, will be the first to utilize electromechanical technology for thrust vector control. Traditionally, SLBMs have been controlled by hydraulic systems. The change lowers maintenance through elimination of oil leaks, reduced life cycle costs and a reduction in weight. Previously, Goodrich was responsible for both development and qualification of the first and second stage actuators of the M51.
